In event news, the 1st Annual Puff Taco Daddy’s Sporting Clay’s Shootout takes place Nov. 22 benefiting the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and presented by Caro’s Mexican Food. Both restaurants are located in Fort Worth and the event itself, a form of clay pigeon shooting, will be held at the Alpine Gun Range. The sport is the safest and fastest growing one in the country today, according to research.

“Hook The Cure,” a Nov. 10 Cystic Fibrosis Fundraiser in California raised $450,000 according to the agency’s website. The illness is an inherited life-threatening disease involving a genetic mutation that disrupts the cystic fibrosis transmembrane regulator (CFTR) protein, resulting in poorly hydrated, thickened mucous secretions in the lungs. When the foundation began in 1955, few children with it lived to attend elementary school. The symptoms and severity of Cystic Fibrosis vary widely, research shows. Those with the illness can participate in research studies by signing up at cff.org on the Net.
