I am still in my twenties, so that means I party hard. I have recently moved from NY to Delaware and currently, I struggle with the nightlife around this area. I have found that when I do go out, there is always a story to tell and characters I meet. I hope you all enjoy the stories as much as I like telling them. :-)
This past weekend was really unexpected because I had specific plans, but of course to no surprise, it fell apart, so, I spent the weekend with my Delaware Crew (DC). I call them this because they are the only people I hang with in Delaware....
Anyway, Friday was the usual bar night at the Good Shot Bar. As usual, Jai was late, because Jai is in denial that this bar actually closes at 1 AM on a Friday. I mean really...dont these people want to make money? My main spot in that place is anywhere by the bar....because (A) its the fastest way to get my drinks and (B) the dance floor is way too small, and it was way too hot. It kills me that chicks dress for this place, like its a club...its a bar...in Delaware. That should say it all. Overall, my hour in the place was cool. I stayed away from the grubby hands and I managed to enjoy the music and the scenery.
Saturday: The DC crew let me down. Why? Because though I luv them all...they are the most indecisive bunch ever. It would be cool if we lived in places like NY or D.C., but we live in Delaware...meaning, by 10 AM, if you dont know where you are going...you are basically screwed. Well, it seemed like we were screwed because we didnt decide until 11:30 ish and the plan was Philly. When we got to Philly, again team meeting, because a decision couldnt be made on which club in Philly to go to. We were in Spring Gardens, which I was informed as the "ghetto club area." and we went to Transit which is right across from Palmers which I heard is the "hood rat" club. Now, looking at the pack line in Palmers, oppose to the empty line at Transit, I was having serious doubt. I was more doubtful when the bouncer said...."Yo, why yall not going to Palmers?" When the bouncer is not promoting the club he is working for, that might be a sign that you should make a reverse turn and
leave. But no, no, no...we made a decision and daggone it...we were determined to see it through.
So out goes our $20 and into the club we go...only to realize that somehow we ended up in Chinatown, not meaning to be insulting. Oh yeah, it seemed that it was Asian hip-hop night. What was amazing was that the Asians were off-the-hook...hoochie outfits everywhere....a** (or lack there of) shaking...and they have more rhythm than caucasians and a lot of blacks that I have seen. This might be a little insulting to some, but please keep in mind that even though America is a supposedly a melting pot, a lot of ethnic groups and races tend to stick to their own groups. So it is always a culture shock to see other cultures doing the same thing you do on a daily basis and it is also enlightening.
Now, back to the party, I got off of the initial shock of not seeing any eye-candy. At least the DJ was playing good music...for like half-a-second. For instance, he would start with Young Joc's "Going Down" song, and just when you are about to do your motorcycle dance...he switches it to "Walk it Out". So there you are standing, with your hands on your imaginary motorcycle handles, and you cant even start it. He could have been a good DJ if he actually played a record more than 30 seconds. One thing he did play out was the Asian hip-hop group that decided to perform that night. Its quite a shock when Asian rappers get on stage and hollas "where's my n*ggas at!"...."all my gangsta's put your hands in the air". But, it was really quite an eye-opener to see how hip-hop affects different people and how different cultures try to portray that "thug" image.
Anyway, the DC crew made the best of bad situation...gotta love them for that...and we enjoyed ourselves...as we try to do always.
They did me proud on Sunday....that was Atlantic City nite and I will tell yall about it later...right now, I'm kinda tired.....
Be blessed yall....
